Following our SECO licence award last year and after opening an office in Switzerland, Andy Ryan has joined 6 Group as a Senior Client Partner to lead our Swiss practice.
Based in Zürich, Andy covers the financial services, aviation, technology and growth-stage start-up markets. He will be working with clients across our three core service areas; global executive search, talent mapping and pipelining and leadership assessment and development.
Andy brings significant functional and operational experience to 6 Group. He spent the first part of his career working in front office wealth management roles, including for JP Morgan’s private banking desks in Geneva and New York.
Feeling the pull of entrepreneurship, he left the financial world in 2011 to found a travel technology start-up, growing his company to a team of 20 and a user base in over 150 countries. While building a business he discovered his passion for talent and recruitment so, after winding down his company, he joined UBS’s in-house recruitment team to gain a better understanding of the talent-related challenges faced by a large international business.
At 6 Group, his role enables him to bring together his hands-on business experience in both large corporates and scrappy start-ups, with his passion for identifying and solving challenges around talent and recruitment.
With a particular interest in HR strategy and board governance, Andy sits on the board of directors of a company in Argentina focused on promoting entrepreneurship and innovation in Latin America, as well as on the governing board of the International School of Geneva, the oldest and largest international school in the world.
A dual British and Swiss national, Andy read Geography at Cambridge University where he represented his college in football and basketball and the university in ice hockey.
SECO | A key enabler
Last year, 6 Group was awarded its SECO licence. To practice the recruitment profession in Switzerland, firms are legally required to hold this licence.
6 Group has worked across Switzerland for years, partnering with client organisations through our talent mapping and pipelining projects and leadership assessment and development programmes. However, the attainment of the SECO licence has enabled us to offer our client partners unequivocal access to our global executive search capability.
