Building a Diverse Talent Pipeline

A leading manufacturing and technology organisation partnered with us to overcome recruitment challenges and attract diverse, high-caliber sales professionals.

A multibillion-dollar manufacturing and technology organisation needed a strategic partner to tackle a crucial challenge: attracting diverse, high-calibre sales professionals across Europe. Despite their ambitious goal to increase female representation in leadership to 40% by 2030, they were up against a common hiring hurdle: traditional recruitment approaches, which often favour the usual suspects—visible, actively jobseeking candidates. The result? A struggle to find diverse talent that could bring new perspectives to their teams.

CHALLENGE

In a sector where women make up just 25% of senior leadership and 32% across all levels, building a talent pipeline that could turbocharge diversity goals was no walk in the park. The client faced the dual challenge of finding candidates with the right technical chops who also fit the organisation’s values. Meanwhile, engaging passive candidates — those hidden gems who weren’t actively looking but might be open to the right opportunity—required a strategy that was more precision instrument than blunt tool.

THE TIPPING POINT

In 2023, the organisation took a hard look at its DEI strategy and pinpointed a major gap: Sourcing and Selecting Diverse Talent. They realised that to stay ahead of the curve, they needed to build a workforce that truly reflected the diverse fabric of the communities they served. Enter 6 Group. Armed with a promise to align actions with aspirations, we became a partner who could deliver a fresh approach to building their talent pool. And we were more than happy to roll up our sleeves.

6 GROUP’S APPROACH: THE CAPABILITY ENGINE™

To meet these needs, 6 Group deployed its Capability Engine™ — a bespoke, data-driven talent pipelining solution designed to create a steady flow of qualified, diverse candidates, ready when opportunities arise. Our process involved four key phases:

  1. Mapping the Market: Using our Map Module, we conducted a deep
dive into the talent landscape in three key European markets—
the UK, Germany, and France. We identified over 500 potential
female candidates with the right blend of sales prowess and industry
know-how. Think of it as building a treasure map to talent gold.
  2. Building the Talent Pipeline: We engaged identified candidates
through targeted outreach, spotlighting the client’s culture, growth
paths, and their unbeatable Employer Value Proposition (EVP).
Our Pipeline Module positioned the client as a top-tier career
destination, ensuring candidates saw a future with them
that was more than just a job title.
  3. Assessing Fit and Readiness: We don’t do half-measures here.
Using our Full Assessment process, candidates were meticulously
evaluated for their technical skills, leadership potential, and alignment
with the organisation’s ethos. Those who made the cut were added
to a ‘Talent House’—a ready-to-go roster of individuals primed
    for future roles.
  4. Ongoing Engagement: The Maintenance Module kept the talent pool
engaged with regular, tailored communication, ensuring they stayed
excited about the client’s growth story and market leadership.

OUTCOME

Within eight weeks, 6 Group identified over 500 sales professionals with relevant technical, functional, and industry expertise across the UK, Germany, and France.
