6 Group’s Interim-dedicated practice was retained by a global retail solutions manufacturer and service provider to support them in the final stretch of a tricky M&A integration.
6 Group set out to identify an empathetic people leader with experience in this sector and, crucially, a track record in business integrations. It was also important to find someone with experience or roots in the region of the subsidiary’s production sites, to ensure that the individual fully understood the local culture and mindset.
Given the time criticality, 6 Group focused on identifying and engaging a specifically targeted talent pool, focusing on fit and availability, rather than on volume. This delivered a tiered longlist of 7 candidates within less than 2 weeks. Out of this longlist, 3 candidates were specifically recommended for interview.
Within a month of briefing, the successful candidate started on a 3-month fixed-term contract, which was subsequently extended due to the high success of the individual. According to the UK Managing Director, the individual is “a breath of fresh air”.
The Interim Integration Leader successfully communicated the offboarding and outplacing of the affected workforce and the transfer of the retained employees without trade union conflict or media exposure. Further, they skilfully orchestrated the complex transfer of goods to the parent Group’s sites across the UK.
